Dr. Gad Marshall received his undergraduate and medical degree from Boston University. He then completed a neurology residency at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a dementia and behavioral neuroscience fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is board certified in Neurology and the current Director of Clinical Trials at the Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Associate Neurologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital; Assistant in Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital; and Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Over the past 20 years, he has focused on improving the clinical care of patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related conditions, in conjunction with clinical research in AD. Over the past 17 years, he has been site principal investigator for 14 clinical trials and 4 observational imaging studies in AD such as the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). His NIH-funded research has focused on clinical correlates of instrumental activities of daily living and neuropsychiatric symptoms with amyloid, tau, and FDG PET, structural and resting-state functional MRI, across the early AD spectrum. More recently, he has been developing novel sensitive performance-based instrumental activities of daily living tests for early-stage AD. He is also co-principal investigator for an NIH-funded proof-of-concept clinical trial of a sirtuin-NAD+ activator in AD. Moreover, he has been a Steering Committee Member and Chair of the Publications Committee of the Alzheimer’s Clinical Trial Consortium (ACTC) since its inception in 2018, as well as a Mentor for the Early Career Project Evaluation Committee of ACTC since 2020.

Tia Hall
Site Liaison
Tia Hall is the Project Manager at the Center for Alzheimer Research and Treatment (CART) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she oversees the development and conduct of BWH CART’s research programs, including providing oversight for the multiple Alzheimer Disease (AD) clinical trials, implementation and development of policies, oversight for staff training and allocation of resources. Tia works with the CART team to ensure research at CART is conducted properly and make CART and research more accessible and welcoming to all participants. Tia made the transition to clinical research after 5+ years of studying and working in benchtop basic AD research ranging from cell work to behavioral work in transgenic AD rodent models. She received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Central Michigan University, followed by some graduate course and research work in neuroscience. Throughout her years in the AD research field, Tia has aimed to encourage future scientists and educate underrepresented communities about brain health, healthy aging, memory, and research through interactive community-based programs. She believes in order to make true and informed advances in the field we need everyone involved and represented on all fronts – from researchers to study participants.
