Dr. Thomas Obisesan trained in Geriatrics Medicine, including Cognitive Disorders, at George Washington University, where he also completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health. He is a Professor of Medicine and Geriatrics, Associate Vice President for Regulatory Research Compliance, and Designated Institutional Official at Howard University. Over the past two and half decades, his research has focused on Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Obisesan serves on the Steering Committee for the Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI), Alzheimer’s Clinical Trial Consortium (ACTC), the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiatives, and previously the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS). He previously served on Pharmaceutical Advisory Boards and a Medscape panel on Considering Health Equity in the Care of Patients with Alzheimer's Disease, as the Associate Director of the Howard University General Clinical Research Center (GCRC), and as Director of the Georgetown-Howard University Clinical Research Unit (CRU) under the Center for Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA). He was also a Member of the ASPREE Publications Committee. His community involvement includes years of service on the Board of Directors of the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged and the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Court and he also leads the Howard University Programs on Cognitive Aging. Dr. Obisesan is well-published, was a recipient of several NIH grant awards, chaired numerous NIH Study Sections, has served on national panels and as a reviewer for a variety of journals, and is currently an editor for Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience. Twice, he received recognition awards from the Alzheimer’s Association of the National Capital Area.
