Lon Schneider, MD, directs the USC State of California Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the USC National Institute on Aging Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center clinical core. He served as a senior scientific advisor at the NIMH, on the American Psychiatric Association Committee for Practice Guidelines in Alzheimer’s and Other Dementia, the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry Task Force on Dementia. He holds a master’s degree in biometry and epidemiology and has expertise in clinical trials methods and drug development. His work involves treatment development with novel metabolic and neuroregenerative compounds, outcomes assessment, and approaches to modeling and clinical trials simulations. He is an associate editor or editorial board member of several publications, including the Cochrane Dementia and Cognitive Improvement Group, Current Alzheimer Research, BMC-Psychiatry, Alzheimer’s & Dementia, The Lancet Neurology, and Clinical Neuropharmacology among others; is editor-in-chief of Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Translational Research and Clinical Interventions, and has authored numerous papers and chapters.
Sonia Pawluczyk, MD

Dr. Pawluczyk was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After receiving her MD diploma at the Medical School of the University of Buenos Aires, she completed the “Curso Superior de Psiquiatria” at Hospital Borda. She moved to Los Angeles and entered the residency training in Psychiatry at LAC+USC. She did a fellowship in Psychiatry and the Law and in Geriatric Psychiatry. She then joined the Department of Psychiatry and has been part of the Geriatric Studies Center since 1991. Dr. Pawluczyk practices at the Memory and Aging Center at USC and she is also a consultant at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. Dr. Pawluczyk is fluent in Spanish.
